Case IH 19800 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Management System (EMS): SCR Inducement: Level 1 (Torque reduction), triggered by Tampering fault

The machine's Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions system has detected a condition it interprets as tampering (such as a disconnected sensor, missing SCR system, or bypassed emissions component), resulting in an automatic Level 1 engine derate (torque reduction) to protect the system and comply with emissions regulations.

   Inspect the SCR system, DEF pump, and exhaust sensors for disconnected harnesses, bypassed wiring, or physical damage

   Check the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to ensure it is clean, uncontaminated, and at the proper level

   Scan for accompanying codes (e.g., NOx sensor plausibility 3521, 3528, 3529; DEF pump blockages 19817; temperature sensor voltage 19826) to pinpoint the tampering trigger

   Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor live data and check if the SCR system registers as missing or inefficient

   Address the Root Cause

   Replace or reconnect any faulty or disconnected SCR components (such as a failed NOx sensor or DEF dosing module) that triggered the tampering fault.

   Perform a Validation Restart

   If the tractor is derated and has validation restarts remaining, perform a two-minute key-off cycle to allow a full power restart for inducement validation.

   Execute the Self-Healing Process

   Run the machine under a heavy load to elevate the catalyst chamber (muffler) temperature to approximately 450°F for 30 minutes uninterrupted.

   Reset via EST

   If the inducement lockout does not clear through the self-healing process, it must be manually reset using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) hooked up to the tractor.

   ECU Update

   In some cases, flashing the EMS ECU with the latest i-Flash software is recommended to resolve persistent inducement logic errors.
