Case IH 19801 (F-5246-00) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): SCR Inducement: Level 3 (creep mode), triggered by Tampering fault
Issue description
The system has detected a condition that resembles an attempt to bypass, defeat, or disconnect the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions system, activating Level 3 (creep mode) which severely restricts engine power and vehicle speed.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Case IH 240 Series Axial-Flow® Combines
- Case IH T7 Series (Tier 4B) Tractors
- Case IH Farmall 40-45-50-115U Tractors
Check the cause
Scan the ECU for other active root cause fault codes (e.g., blocked EGR valve, blocked DEF/AdBlue dosing valve code 19817, disconnected sensors, or repeated offender logic).
Visually inspect the SCR wiring harness, NOx sensors, and DEF dosing module for aftermarket emulators or bypass devices.
Inspect the DEF quality sensor, dosing valve, and downstream oxidation catalyst temperature sensors for cut wires, corrosion, or unplugged connectors.
Repair steps
Repair root cause
Based on secondary fault codes found during diagnosis, repair or replace the failed component (e.g., clean/replace a blocked DEF dosing valve, replace a faulty NOx sensor, or repair damaged wiring).
Remove emulators
If an SCR bypass device was installed, remove it and restore the OEM wiring.
Perform validation restart
Activate the Service Inducement Validation Restart mode using diagnostic software, as the inducement logic will not clear automatically after part replacement.
Execute full power restart
Execute a full power restart as prompted by the diagnostic software to allow the ECU to validate that the SCR system is fully functional and emissions are within legal limits, deactivating Level 3 creep mode.
