Case IH 19813 – Dosing Control Unit (DCU): Reporting of the error for the Plausibility of DEF/AdBlue Quantity and Pump Speed function
Issue description
Indicates that the aftertreatment system is unable to build adequate pressure. The system logs this code when the start-up cycle counter detects a pressure drop during DEF dosing.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Tier 4a
- Tier 4b
- Steiger series (350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600)
- Quadtrac series (350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600)
- Rowtrac series (350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600)
- Magnum series
- Axial-Flow series (7230, 8230, 9230)
Check the cause
Check DEF fluid level to ensure the tank is not empty or critically low, which causes air ingress into the system.
Check DEF quality for contaminated fluid or incorrect DEF/AdBlue concentration.
Inspect DEF supply lines for leaks, restrictions, kinks, or breaks, and check for cracked sending unit tubes.
Check inline main screens, nozzle screens, and the small screen on the DEF line (typically on the right side) for plugging or scale buildup.
Check electrical circuits for high resistance in the VPWR (Vehicle Power) circuit or the GND (Ground) circuit leading to the reductant pump assembly.
Repair steps
Drain and Clean
If contamination or heavy crystallization is found, completely drain the DEF tank. Clean all inline main screens and nozzle screens in the DEF system, then refill with fresh DEF.
Replace Filters
Replace the main DEF filter element, as a clogged filter is a primary cause of the pump struggling to build pressure.
Replace the DEF Pump / DCU
If the lines are clear, the filters are new, and the wiring is intact, the DEF supply pump is likely too weak due to internal leakage or a damaged membrane. Replace the Dosing Control Unit (DCU) / DEF Pump assembly.
System "Healing"
After the physical repair is completed, bring the engine to operating temperature and run it under load (exhaust temperatures over 425 degrees for roughly 30 minutes) so the system can "heal itself" and clear the fault. Note: If a new DCU module is installed, it may require software installation/flashing via the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
