Case IH 19830 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM): Lower SRC limit for the current through the turbo charger actuator

This fault code indicates that the electrical current flowing through the turbocharger's electronic actuator circuit has dropped below the expected minimum threshold (Lower SRC limit). This points to an open circuit, a disconnected plug, high resistance in the wiring harness, or an internal failure of the turbocharger actuator motor itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the turbocharger actuator for disconnected plugs, backed-out pins, corrosion, or chafed wires

   Use a multimeter to check for an open circuit or high resistance in the wiring between the ECM/VCM and the turbocharger actuator

   Verify that the actuator is receiving the correct voltage and has a solid ground connection

   Test the internal resistance of the turbocharger actuator to determine if the internal motor/circuit has failed open

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, repair the wiring harness or replace the pigtail connector.

   Replace Actuator/Turbocharger

   If the wiring is intact and the actuator has failed internally, replace the turbocharger actuator. Note: Depending on the specific engine model and turbo manufacturer, the actuator may be available separately, or it may require replacing the entire turbocharger assembly.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the wiring harness and the battery. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 19830 fault code.

   Test Run

   Start the engine and run the machine under load to verify that the turbocharger actuator operates correctly and the fault code does not return.
