Case IH 19881 (F-3360-06) - ECU – Heater Control Unit (HCU): Heater control unit detected an over temperature error - internal system failure

The module responsible for heating the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) / AdBlue lines to prevent freezing has detected an internal over-temperature condition. Because the error specifies an internal system failure, the fault is typically localized to the circuitry inside the control unit itself.

   Inspect the Wiring Harness: Check the HCU CAN bus lines (CAN Hi / CAN Lo) and power supply lines for chafing, melting, or short circuits.

   Test Power and Ground: Verify that the HCU is receiving proper voltage at the supply (Terminal 30), ground (Terminal 31), and activation (Terminal 87) pins.

   Check DEF Heater Lines: Inspect the heated DEF lines (Suction Line, Pressure Line, and Backflow Line). A dead short in one of the DEF line heaters could draw excessive current and cause the HCU to overheat internally.
