Case IH 19882 (F-3360-03) - ECU – DEF Dosing Control Unit (DCU) / Heater Control Unit: Heater control unit detected an overvoltage error - internal system failure.

The control unit responsible for managing the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) / AdBlue heating system has detected a voltage level exceeding the maximum allowable threshold. This indicates a short to power in the heater circuit, a malfunctioning alternator/voltage regulator overcharging the system, or an internal short/failure within the heater control relay or module itself.

   Test battery voltage and alternator output while the engine is running to ensure the alternator is not overcharging (voltage should not exceed 14.5V - 15V on a 12V system).

   Locate the DEF Heater Control Unit Relay and test for internal shorts, as a fused relay can send unregulated voltage to the control unit.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the DEF heater control unit to the DEF tank heater and line heaters for chafed wires causing a short to power.

   Disconnect the DEF heater control unit and use a multimeter to check the supply pins for overvoltage. If supply voltage is normal, the module itself has failed internally.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access the DEF Control Block

   Locate the DEF supply module and the associated electrical relay block (location varies by model, often near the DEF tank or main electrical distribution box).

   Replace the Relay

   Pull the DEF heater relay. If it tests out of specification or shows signs of heat damage/melting, replace it with a new OEM relay.

   Repair Wiring

   If the harness inspection revealed chafed wires shorting to a power source, splice and heat-shrink the damaged sections, then re-loom the harness securely away from vibration points.

   Replace the Heater Control Unit

   If the relay and wiring are intact and voltage reaching the unit is normal, the internal circuitry of the control unit has failed. Unbolt the unit, disconnect the multi-pin connectors, and install the replacement module.

   Relearn/Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), clear the inactive 19882 fault code, and run a DEF system heater test to verify the repair.
