Case IH 19883 (F-3360-04) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Heater control unit detected an under voltage error - internal system failure.

The Heater Control Unit (HCU) has detected that its internal voltage has dropped below the acceptable operating threshold. This typically points to a severe voltage drop on the supply circuit (Terminal 30) or an internal hardware failure within the HCU itself.

   Verify the machine's batteries are fully charged and the alternator is outputting the correct voltage

   Inspect the wiring harness supplying power to the HCU (Terminal 30) for chafed wires, loose grounds, or corroded connector pins

   Test the dedicated DEF Heater Relay and inspect the fuse contacts for corrosion or heat damage

   Check the DEF tank heater and heated lines for short circuits that could pull the circuit voltage down

   Verify internal failure: If supply voltage at the HCU connector remains steady under load and the relay functions perfectly, the HCU has suffered an internal hardware failure

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable

   This prevents electrical arcing.

   Locate the DEF Supply Module / Heater Control Unit

   Typically mounted near the base of the DEF tank or on the DEF pump assembly.

   Thoroughly clean the area around the module

   This prevents dirt from entering the DEF system.

   Disconnect the main electrical harness connectors

   Disconnect them from the HCU.

   Replace the DEF Heater Relay (if applicable)

   If replacing the relay (a common culprit for voltage drops), locate the DEF Heater Relay in the main fuse/relay box, pull the old relay, and seat the new one firmly.

   Remove the HCU (if replacing)

   Unbolt the unit from its mounting bracket and remove it.

   Install the new HCU / DEF Supply Module

   Torque the mounting bolts to OEM spec.

   Reconnect the electrical connectors and the negative battery cable

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port

   Clear the inactive fault codes and run a DEF system heater test to verify the under-voltage condition is resolved.
