Case IH 1991-13 - UCM – UCM: Auxiliary Valve 7 (Rear remote #7) spool valve position sensor is out of calibration

Issue description

The system's controller cannot accurately determine the physical position of the spool valve inside the rear remote, which triggers a fail-safe mode and disables or restricts the use of that specific hydraulic remote.

Check the cause

  1. Check the armrest lever to verify that the physical remote lever or switch is returning fully to the neutral (middle) position.

  2. Start the tractor and observe the A-post or Pro 700 display. If the system tells you to move the EHR to neutral and the green cylinder light remains on even when the switch is physically centered, the potentiometer inside the armrest lever is likely failing.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running from the armrest controls to the UCM/EHR controller, and from the controller to the rear remote valve #7, looking for corrosion or broken wires.

Repair steps

  1. Perform an In-Cab Calibration

    Before replacing parts, attempt to recalibrate the EHR switches. On many Case IH models, this is done via the A-post display: Hold the 'PROG' key in while turning the ignition key to the ON position. Navigate to the 'ARM' (Armrest) section to find the calibration menu. Pull the affected lever fully back, then fully forward, and finally let it rest in neutral. Turn off the key and wait at least 30 seconds before restarting the tractor to test.

  2. Perform a Hydraulic Calibration

    If the lever calibration does not clear the code, the valve itself must be calibrated. This often requires the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop and a remote valve calibration tool (a pressure transducer plugged into the test port at the back of the cab) to monitor load sense signal pressure during the calibration routine.

  3. Replace Faulty Components

    If the calibration process fails to complete or the code immediately returns, the potentiometer in the armrest lever is the most common failure point. If the lever tests fine, the position transducer on the rear remote valve slice itself has failed.

  4. Final Calibration

    After replacing either the armrest switch or the valve transducer, you must repeat the EHR calibration procedure to sync the new component with the UCM.
