Case IH 19914 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Error in comparing energizing time to minimum value for injector in cylinder 3
Issue description
The control module has detected that the energizing time required for the injector has hit the absolute minimum allowable threshold, indicating that the injector is mechanically worn and delivering too much fuel, or there is an electrical anomaly/resistance issue in the injector's solenoid or wiring harness.

Check the cause
Inspect the engine wiring harness and the specific connector at the injector for chafing, shorts to ground, or high resistance.
Inspect the fuel filters and water separator for contaminated fuel or water, which can cause injector tips to blow out or stick.
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and verify that the injector calibration codes (IQA/trim codes) programmed into the ECU match the codes printed on the physical injectors.
Run a manual Zero Fuel Calibration or cylinder contribution test via the EST to confirm the injector is failing the parameter check.
Repair steps
Disconnect the machine's battery.
Clean the top of the engine thoroughly.
This prevents dirt from entering the fuel system.
Remove the engine valve cover / injector cover.
This provides access to the fuel injectors.
Disconnect the electrical connector to the affected injector.
Remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the common rail to the injector.
Cap the rail and the injector port immediately to prevent contamination.
Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt.
Carefully extract the injector.
Because they are friction-fit and sealed with a carbon-stop seal, a specialized slide hammer or OTC puller tool may be required if the injector is stuck.
Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head meticulously.
Ensure no carbon or debris falls into the cylinder.
Install the new injector.
Use a new copper sealing washer and new O-rings.
Reinstall the hold-down clamp.
Torque the bolt to exact OEM specifications.
Install a new high-pressure fuel line.
CNH generally recommends against reusing high-pressure common rail lines. Torque to spec.
Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall the valve cover.
Use a new gasket.
Reconnect the battery.
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and program the new injector's alphanumeric calibration code into the ECU.
The code is found on the top of the new injector. The engine will not run correctly if this step is skipped.
Clear the fault codes, start the engine, check for leaks, and allow the ECU to run its Zero Fuel Calibration.
This verifies the repair.
