Case IH 2010 - UCM – UCM: Seat switch input - voltage too high

The controller is detecting a voltage on the operator presence seat switch input circuit that is higher than the expected range. This condition typically occurs when the seat switch circuit is shorted to the supply voltage (either B+ 12V or a 5-volt reference signal).

   Inspect the seat switch wiring harness under the seat for chafing, pinching, or bare wires rubbing against the metal seat frame.

   Test the harness by disconnecting the seat switch connector, turning the key ON, and measuring the signal wire voltage to ground (if it reads 12V or 5V, the harness is shorted to power).

   Test the seat switch for internal failure by checking for continuity across the pins when the seat is empty (it should be normally open).

   Check the UCM or Transmission controller connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins that could bridge power and signal circuits.

   Disconnect battery

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical damage.

   Replace seat switch

   If the diagnostic checks point to a failed switch: Remove the seat cushion or access the bottom panel of the seat suspension to reach the operator presence switch. Disconnect the electrical pigtail. Unclip or unscrew the old switch from the seat frame. Install the new OEM switch and reconnect the harness.

   Repair or replace harness

   If the diagnostic checks point to a harness short: Trace the wiring from the seat switch back to the UCM/Transmission controller. Locate the damaged section of the wire (usually at a flex point near the air suspension). Repair the damaged wire using proper splice connectors and heat shrink, or replace the seat switch sub-harness entirely.

   Reconnect battery

   Reconnect the battery ground cable.

   Verify repair

   Turn the key ON, sit in the seat to cycle the switch, and verify that Fault Code 2010 changes to an inactive state or clears from the display monitor.
