Case IH 2011 - UCM – UCM: Clutch pedal potentiometer – voltage too low

The signal voltage returning from the clutch pedal potentiometer to the controller has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the clutch pedal assembly in the cab. Ensure the potentiometer is securely mounted and that the mechanical linkage actuating it is not broken, loose, or misaligned.

   Wiring and Harness Check: Inspect the wiring harness from the clutch pedal potentiometer to the UCM. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs.

   Voltage Test: Disconnect the potentiometer and check the reference voltage coming from the UCM (typically a 5V reference).

   Sensor Sweep Test: Measure the resistance of the potentiometer while slowly depressing the clutch pedal to ensure it changes smoothly without any dead spots or sudden drops.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the clutch pedal potentiometer, which is mounted directly to the clutch pedal pivot assembly inside the cab.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the potentiometer. Remove the retaining screws/bolts and slide the potentiometer off the pedal linkage.

   Installation

   Install the new clutch pedal potentiometer, ensuring the mechanical tangs or linkage align correctly with the pedal shaft. Secure the mounting hardware and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibration

   Perform a transmission/clutch calibration procedure (via the dashboard diagnostic menu or Electronic Service Tool) so the UCM can relearn the pedal's engagement points.
