Case IH 2026 – Transmission Controller (TCU) / Chassis Control Module (CCM): Clutch D not calibrated

Issue description

The transmission controller does not have valid calibration values for the Clutch D engagement point, resulting in poor clutch performance, hesitation, or failure to engage the specific gear ranges associated with Clutch D.

Applies to these machines

  • Farmall
  • MX Magnum Series
  • MX210
  • MX230
  • MX255
  • MX285
  • MXM Series
  • MXM 120
  • MXM 130
  • MXM 140
  • MXM 155
  • MXM 175
  • MXM 190
  • TG Series
  • Puma
  • T7

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the transmission oil is at the correct operating temperature (35°C - 45°C or 95°F - 113°F). Cold oil will cause calibration to abort.

  2. Check for secondary U-codes or U-errors (e.g., U19 for cold oil, U21/U22 for incorrect engine RPM, U26 for clutch pedal not released) that might be halting the calibration process.

  3. Perform a hydraulic pressure test on the Clutch D circuit. The target pressure should be approximately 16 bar. Lower pressure points to a mechanical leak or faulty PWM valve.

Repair steps

  1. Attempt Recalibration

Warm the tractor up to the target temperature (35°C - 45°C) and initiate the transmission clutch calibration procedure via the tractor's display/H-Menu.

  2. Inspect/Clean the PWM Valve

If the calibration fails and the 2026/FCD error persists, locate the Clutch D PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) solenoid valve on the transmission valve block. Remove the valve, clean it thoroughly to remove any debris or sticking contaminants, and reinstall it.

  3. Replace the PWM Valve

If cleaning the valve does not allow the calibration to complete successfully, replace the Clutch D PWM solenoid valve with a new unit and attempt calibration again.

  4. Check for Internal Leaks

If the new valve fails to resolve the issue and the pressure test shows less than 16 bar, the transmission has an internal hydraulic leak.

  5. Mechanical Repair

If internal leakage is confirmed, the transmission must be split/disassembled to access the forward clutch pack. Inspect and replace the Clutch D piston seals, worn friction discs, or the clutch carrier as necessary.
