Case IH 2027 – Transmission Control Module (TCU / ATC) or Tractor Management Frame (TMF) / Armrest controller: Engine speed too low / Engine speed - no signal

Triggered when the controller detects that the engine RPM has dropped below a required threshold. This occurs either during operation (a transmission shift attempted at too low of an engine RPM, or lost signal) or during calibration (engine speed too low to perform a procedure).

   Verify operating conditions if calibrating — ensure engine RPM is set above 1200–1600 RPM as specified by the manual.

   Check for accompanying engine codes (such as ENG 115 or ENG 121) which indicate a failed engine speed or crankshaft position sensor.

   Inspect the wiring harness and CAN-bus lines connecting the engine speed sensor to the ECU and Transmission controller for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Operator Correction

   If calibrating, abort the calibration, increase the hand throttle to the required RPM, and restart the calibration procedure.

   Harness Repair

   Disconnect the engine speed sensor and inspect the connector. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and repair any broken wires in the harness.

   Sensor Replacement

   Use a multimeter to test the engine speed sensor. If it fails resistance/voltage checks, remove the retaining bolt, pull the old sensor from the engine block or transmission housing, and install a new OEM sensor with a new O-ring.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic tool (like the CNH Electronic Service Tool or Jaltest) to clear the stored 2027 fault code and test drive the tractor to ensure smooth shifting.
