Case IH 2036 – Transmission Control Module (TCM / TRANS): Dump solenoid - open circuit
Issue description
The controller has detected a break in the electrical circuit (open circuit) or a short to ground in the wiring or the coil of the transmission's dump solenoid. When this circuit is open, the valve defaults to neutral or fails to operate, resulting in a loss of transmission pressure or shifting capability.

Check the cause
Check for related transmission error codes, such as 2035 (Dump solenoid - short to 12V) or 2505 (Clutch A pressure not plausible).
Inspect the clutch solenoid connectors (e.g., X-527) and dump solenoid connector (e.g., X-358) at the transmission valve block for mud, moisture contamination, or physical damage.
Inspect the chassis wire harness for breaks, chafing, or shorts to ground between the transmission controller and the dump solenoid.
Test the dump solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter. A healthy 12V DC coil reads around 7.3 Ohms. An infinite resistance reading (OL) confirms an internal open circuit in the coil.
Repair steps
Safely park the tractor, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

If the solenoid coil failed the resistance test, remove the retaining pin or nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge.

Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean transmission/hydraulic oil (e.g., Case IH Akcela Nexplore fluid) prior to installation.

Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and clear the fault codes. Test the transmission by shifting through the gears. A clutch calibration may be required after replacing transmission hydraulic components.
