2047

Case IH 2047 – Transmission Controller (TRANS / TCU): Clutch pedal bottom of clutch switch misadjusted.

Issue description

The Bottom of Clutch (BOC) switch is physically out of adjustment, failing to register the correct pedal position, or sending an illogical signal at the bottom of the pedal's travel.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Steiger T4B
  • Maxxum
  • Farmall
  • Magnum Series 235-340 (Series 4)
  • Magnum 245
  • MX Series

  • Quadtrac Series 350
  • Quadtrac Series 450
  • Quadtrac Series 500

Check the cause

  1. Check the clutch pedal travel path for dirt, floor mat interference, or debris preventing the clutch pedal from fully bottoming out.

  2. Inspect the physical mounting bracket of the Bottom of Clutch switch for shifting due to temperature changes and vibration.

  3. Access the tractor's diagnostic display to monitor the clutch position potentiometer and the BOC switch state, verifying that the switch state changes exactly when the pedal bottoms out.

  4. Inspect the electrical connector at the switch (Connector C626) for corrosion, loose pins, or wire chafing.

Repair steps

  1. Access the Switch

Locate the Bottom of Clutch switch, which is mounted on the linkage assembly near the base of the clutch pedal inside the cab console.

  2. Adjust the Switch

Loosen the retaining nuts holding the switch in its bracket. Adjust the switch inward or outward so that the plunger is properly depressed only when the clutch pedal reaches the absolute bottom of its travel.

  3. Test the Actuation

Tighten the nuts and slowly depress the pedal to ensure you hear/feel the switch click right at the floor limit.

  4. Replace if Faulty

If the switch is internally damaged, erratic, or cannot be adjusted to clear the code, disconnect the wiring harness, remove the mounting hardware, and install a new switch.

  5. Recalibrate the Transmission

After adjusting or replacing the switch, you must perform a transmission clutch calibration (and creep clutch calibration, if equipped) via the tractor's display monitor so the controller can relearn the new pedal limits.
