Case IH 2055 – CCU (Central Control Unit) / Transmission Controller (ATC / Trans): Voltage from Shuttle lever Fwd switch too high
Issue description
The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the forward position switch of the shuttle lever that exceeds the normal operating parameters (typically indicating a short to a 5V reference or +12V power source).
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Farmall
- Magnum Series
- Puma Series
- Farmall Series
- Quadtrac
Check the cause
Physically cycle the shuttle lever through Forward, Neutral, and Reverse multiple times to free potentially stuck internal micro-switches
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the shuttle lever to the CCU/Transmission controller for pinched wires, rubbed insulation, or melted wiring
Disconnect the shuttle lever harness connector and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals that could bridge connections
Using a multimeter, test the forward switch circuit on the lever side for internal shorts to power when the lever is in the Neutral or Reverse positions
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Lever
Remove the steering column shrouds or side console trim (depending on where the FNRP shuttle lever is mounted) to access the base of the shuttle lever assembly.
Disconnect the Harness
Unplug the electrical connector at the base of the shuttle lever.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short in the wiring harness between the lever and the CCU, repair the damaged section of the harness and use heat-shrink tubing to seal the repair.
Replace the Shuttle Lever
If the wiring is intact and the switch itself is internally shorted, remove the mounting hardware securing the shuttle lever assembly and install a new or remanufactured unit.
Reassemble and Calibrate
Reconnect the harness, reinstall the trim, and reconnect the battery. Depending on the tractor model, perform a transmission/shuttle lever calibration procedure via the tractor's display monitor or diagnostic tool to sync the new lever with the CCU.
