Case IH 2058 – Transmission Controller: SHUTTLE LEVER REVERSE SWITCH VOLTAGE LOW

Issue description

The controller is detecting that the voltage signal coming from the reverse switch on the forward/reverse shuttle lever (often referred to as the FNRP Pod) is below the acceptable threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground, an open circuit in the wiring, or an internal failure of the switch itself.

Check the cause

  1. Cycle the shuttle lever back and forth several times to free up potentially stuck internal switch contacts.

  2. Perform an operational test by trying to drive the tractor forward to see if the transmission responds and registers the forward switch correctly.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the shuttle lever and the transmission controller for chafed wires (short to ground) or broken wires (open circuit).

  4. Use a multimeter to probe the reverse switch output at the connector to verify if the voltage drops too low when the lever is moved into the reverse position.
