Case IH 2059 - UCM – UCM: Shuttle lever switch disagreement ("N" displayed)

The control module is receiving conflicting electrical signals from the shuttle lever switches. The system is detecting that the switch inputs indicate the shuttle lever is simultaneously in both Forward and Neutral, both Reverse and Neutral, or both Forward and Reverse. Because the module cannot determine the true intended direction, it defaults to displaying "N" (Neutral) for safety.

   Rapidly cycle the shuttle lever back and forth between forward and reverse several times to free up potentially stuck internal switch contacts

   Try driving the tractor in the opposite direction to see if the fault clears temporarily

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the shuttle lever (either on the steering column or the armrest FNRP pod) for chafing, shorts to ground, or open circuits

   Check for accompanying voltage fault codes (e.g., 2070, 2071, 2072, 2073) which indicate specific high/low voltage issues on the forward or reverse switch circuits

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Ensure the machine is powered down before beginning electrical work.

   For Steering Column Levers: Remove the plastic steering column shrouds to access the base of the shuttle lever assembly.

   This exposes the mounting and electrical connections for column-mounted levers.

   For Armrest FNRP Pods: Carefully pry up or unbolt the upper FNRP pod cover on the armrest to expose the lever mechanism.

   This provides access to the armrest-mounted shuttle lever.

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty shuttle lever switch.

   Unplug the wiring harness from the switch assembly.

   Unbolt the retaining screws/hardware and remove the old shuttle lever assembly.

   Remove the faulty component from its mounting location.

   Install the new shuttle lever switch and secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Mount the replacement switch assembly in place.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Plug the wiring harness into the new shuttle lever switch.

   Reassemble the steering column covers or armrest pod covers.

   Reinstall all plastic shrouds and covers removed during disassembly.

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key ON.

   Restore power to the tractor.

    Clear the stored fault codes using the tractor's diagnostic menu.

    Navigate to the "H8" menu on the UCM to clear stored EEPROM error codes.

    Test the shuttle lever operation in Forward, Neutral, and Reverse to ensure the disagreement fault does not return.

    Verify the repair by confirming normal operation of the shuttle lever.
