Issue description
This code indicates that the voltage signal returning from the potentiometer—which monitors the physical position of the forward/reverse synchroniser inside the transmission—has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically points to an electrical issue (such as a short to ground, damaged connector, or failed sensor) or a mechanical binding issue preventing the synchroniser from reaching its proper position.

Check the cause
Use a voltmeter to check the live voltage signal coming from the synchroniser potentiometer
Verify that the synchroniser potentiometer was not painted over during factory production or a previous repair, as this is a known issue that can restrict sensor movement or cause grounding issues
Inspect the potentiometer and its wiring harness connector for physical damage, bent pins, or corrosion
Verify if the internal synchroniser assembly is mechanically very tight or 'sticky'
If the voltmeter shows the sensor signal is actually OK, attempt to run the transmission calibration procedure to free up the sticky synchroniser
Repair steps
Access the Sensor
Locate the forward/reverse synchroniser potentiometer on the exterior of the transmission housing.
Electrical Testing
Disconnect the sensor. Test the wiring harness for continuity back to the Transmission Controller and ensure there is no short to ground on the signal wire.
Mechanical Inspection
If the wiring is intact, remove the potentiometer. Manually actuate the synchroniser linkage to ensure it moves freely and is not binding.
Replace the Sensor
If the linkage is free but the sensor is internally shorted or damaged, install a new synchroniser potentiometer.
Reassembly
Secure the new sensor and reconnect the wiring harness.
Transmission Calibration
You must perform a transmission calibration (often accessed via the tractor's H-Menu or diagnostic display). This teaches the TCU the new potentiometer's specific voltage values for the Forward, Neutral, and Reverse positions.
