2069

Case IH 2069 – CCU: Wheel Speed Sensor Voltage too Low

Issue description

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the wheel speed sensor that falls below the acceptable operating threshold. This condition typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor's wiring harness, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Applies to these machines

  • Farmall
  • MX Series
  • MX100
  • MX110
  • MX120
  • TG Series
  • Puma Series
  • Puma 165
  • Puma 180
  • Puma 195
  • Puma 210
  • Puma 225 CVX
  • Steiger

Check the cause

  1. Verify that fault code 2069 is currently present and active in the system.

  2. Inspect the wheel speed sensor, its electrical connector, and the wiring harness for visible damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Use a multimeter to check the sensor wiring harness for an open circuit or a short to ground, which are the primary causes of a voltage too low reading.

  4. Verify that the control module is sending the correct reference voltage (typically 5 volts) to the sensor.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Locate the affected wheel speed sensor (often mounted on the transmission housing, final drive, or wheel hub, depending on the tractor model).

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.

  4. Wiring Repair (If Applicable)

If your diagnostic tests revealed a short or break in the wiring harness, repair the damaged wires or replace the harness section.

  5. Sensor Replacement

If the wiring is intact and the sensor is deemed faulty, remove the retaining bolt(s) holding the sensor in place and pull the old sensor out.

  6. Install New Sensor

Insert the new OEM wheel speed sensor and tighten the retaining hardware.

  7. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor.

  8. Test

Reconnect the battery, clear the active fault codes from the CCU/Transmission module, and operate the tractor to ensure the code does not return and speed registers correctly.
