Case IH 2075 – Transmission Control Unit (Trans / TCU): FNR Not Park Switch high Voltage fault

Issue description

The controller is detecting a voltage signal from the Forward/Neutral/Reverse/Park (FNRP) switch circuit that is higher than the expected normal operating range. This condition is typically caused by an open circuit, a short to a power source (such as a +12V supply or a 5V reference line), or an internal hardware failure within the FNRP switch pod itself.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the FNRP Pod (gear selector on the steering column) and the Transmission controller for pinched wires, chafing, loose connector pins, or corrosion

  2. Use a multimeter to check the 'Not Park' signal wire for an open circuit or a short to power (+12V or 5V reference)

  3. Verify that the FNRP Pod is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground connection

  4. Connect an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor the live state of the FNRP switch and check if the switch state reads 'Illogical' or fails to transition when physically moved out of the Park position

  5. If the wiring tests good, isolate the component as the fault is almost certainly an internal failure of the FNRP switch/pod

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or accidental movement.

  2. Remove Steering Wheel

    Remove the center cap and the retaining nut, then pull the steering wheel off the steering column to provide clearance.

  3. Remove Column Covers

    Take off the plastic steering column shrouds/covers to expose the gear selector assembly.

  4. Disconnect Harness

    Carefully unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the back of the FNRP switch.

  5. Remove the Switch

    Unbolt or unclip the faulty gear selector assembly (FNRP Pod) from the steering column.

  6. Install New Part

    Mount the new FNRP switch assembly into position and securely reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Reassembly

    Reinstall the steering column covers and the steering wheel.

  8. Test

    Reconnect the battery. Clear the transmission fault codes and test the shuttle shift operation in all positions (Forward, Neutral, Reverse, Park) to confirm the repair.
