Case IH 2093 – Transmission Controller (TCU / Trans): High clutch not calibrated
Issue description
The transmission controller has detected that the engagement characteristics (fill time and pressure) for the high clutch pack have not been learned or stored in the system's memory.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Maxxum
- Magnum
- Steiger
- Quadtrac
- Puma
Check the cause
Verify the transmission fluid is warmed up to operating temperature (typically between 60°C and 105°C, or 140°F+). Attempting to calibrate with cold oil will cause the calibration to fail or throw a warning.
Check the transmission hydraulic fluid level and quality. Low or severely degraded fluid can cause erratic clutch fill times, causing calibration to fail.
Ensure the tractor's battery voltage is sufficient. Low voltage can prevent the clutch solenoids from operating correctly during the calibration sequence.
Ensure the tractor is parked on a flat surface in a wide-open area, free of obstacles, people, and pets, and engage the parking brake. Warning: The machine can lunge or move automatically during the calibration process.
Repair steps
Warm up transmission fluid
Start the tractor and operate it until the transmission oil temperature is above 60°C (140°F).
Park safely
Park the tractor in a safe, open area and apply the parking brake.
Turn off tractor
Turn the tractor off.
Enter CONFIG MENU
Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the 'Enter' (or 'Program') key on the instrument keypad to enter the CONFIG MENU.
Select TCU
Use the down arrow key to highlight 'TCU' (Transmission Control Unit) and press Enter.
Access ETC MENU
Scroll down to the 'ETC MENU' and press Enter to access the transmission sub-menus ('TRANS VIEW').
Select TRANS SETUP
Scroll to 'TRANS SETUP' and press Enter.
Select Clutch Calibration
Select the 'Cltch Cal' (Clutch Calibration) screen and press Enter.
Verify fluid temperature
The screen will display 'Oil Deg' to verify the fluid is within the 60°C - 105°C range. If it is, press Enter to proceed.
Perform calibration
Follow the on-screen prompts. The TCU will systematically engage the clutches (including the High Clutch) to learn their fill times. You may feel the tractor shift or slightly lunge.
Save parameters
Once the screen indicates calibration is complete and successful, cycle the key off to save the parameters. The 2093 code should now be cleared.
