Case IH 2100 – Transmission Control Module (CCM): Clutch 5 dump solenoid – short circuit
Issue description
The electrical circuit controlling the dump solenoid for transmission Clutch 5 has shorted (either to ground or to another voltage source), preventing the solenoid from operating correctly.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission valve block for rubbed-through insulation, pinched wires, or fluid intrusion in the connector for the Clutch 5 solenoid.
Disconnect the solenoid and measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. A reading of near zero ohms indicates an internal short in the solenoid.
Check the harness side for continuity to ground to rule out a short in the wiring.
Verify transmission oil temperature is at least 60 °C (140 °F) before attempting to clear the code or run a calibration.
Put the tractor in calibration mode to verify if the fault condition is physically corrected (if code 2100 displays on the lower central display, the fault remains).
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Ensure the transmission fluid is not scalding hot, though it should be warm if you plan to calibrate immediately after.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the transmission control valve block (usually mounted on the side of the transmission housing). Identify the specific dump solenoid for Clutch 5.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical harness from the Clutch 5 dump solenoid. Remove the retaining bolt/bracket holding the solenoid in the manifold. Carefully pull the solenoid out (have a catch pan ready for a small amount of hydraulic fluid).
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean Case IH Hy-Tran fluid. Insert the new solenoid into the valve block, secure the retaining hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.
Clutch Quickfill Calibration
Warm the transmission oil to at least 60 °C. Shift the shuttle and range levers to neutral. Use the upshift/downshift switches to select the clutch (e.g., 'C5'). Test the setting by shifting the shuttle lever to forward and slowly releasing the clutch pedal. Raise the quickfill setting until the tractor is stationary when engaging the clutch, and then lower the setting by 2.
