Case IH 2110 – Universal Control Module (UCM): Momentary shuttle lever neutral switch – voltage too low

Signal voltage from the momentary shuttle lever's neutral switch is outside the expected operating range. This typically means there is an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or an internal failure of the switch itself, preventing the system from verifying if the transmission shuttle lever is in the neutral position.

   Enter Diagnostic Mode: Access the Electronic module Universal controller (H5) switch operation test on the tractor's display.

   Test the Switch: Turn the ignition switch ON. Depress the clutch pedal and move the shuttle lever.

   Monitor the Display: When the switch is operated, a code should be displayed on the upper section of the screen (e.g., d24 for the momentary shuttle lever neutral switch, or d23 for forward/reverse), and an audible tone should be heard.

   Wiggle Test: If the d24 code is not displayed and the audible tone is not heard, perform a 'wiggle' test on the related wiring harness while watching the display or listening for the tone. This will help locate an intermittent wiring fault.

   Inspect Connections: Check for a faulty connector at the shuttle lever, a faulty wire harness (chafing/breaks), or a faulty Universal Control Module (UCM).

   Verify the Fault

   Use the H5 diagnostic menu to confirm the neutral switch is not registering (as detailed in the diagnostic checks).

   Inspect the Connector

   Gain access to the base of the momentary shuttle lever. Disconnect the harness and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals. Clean and reseat if necessary.

   Test the Harness

   If the connector is clean, trace the wiring harness from the shuttle lever back to the UCM. Look for pinch points or rubbed-through insulation. Repair any damaged wires found during the wiggle test.

   Replace the Lever Assembly

   If the wiring and UCM connections are intact and providing the correct reference voltage, the internal neutral switch of the shuttle lever has failed. The momentary shuttle lever assembly must be replaced.

   Re-test

   Install the new shuttle lever, clear the stored 2110/2111 fault codes, and use the H5 diagnostic menu to verify that channel d24 now registers correctly with an audible tone.
