Case IH 2111 – CCU: Voltage from Shuttle lever Neutral switch too high

The voltage signal returning from the Forward/Neutral/Reverse (FNR) power shuttle lever's neutral switch is exceeding the expected maximum threshold, usually indicating an open circuit or short to power.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness running down the steering column from the shuttle lever for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs.

   Unplug the shuttle switch and check the dual-prong pins for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture.

   Test the switch for continuity using a multimeter. The switch should complete the circuit only when the lever is in the dead neutral position.

   Check the harness side for a short to power (which would cause the voltage too high code 2111) or an open ground.

   Verify voltage at the forward and reverse solenoids (usually located on the left side of the shuttle valve) to rule out a downstream solenoid issue.

   Disconnect power

   Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the switch

   Remove the steering wheel (using a puller if necessary) and take off the plastic steering column covers to expose the gear selector assembly.

   Disconnect harness

   Unplug the electrical wiring harness connected to the FNR shuttle switch.

   Remove the switch

   Unbolt the gear selector/shuttle switch assembly from the column mount.

   Install new part

   Mount the new OEM switch assembly, ensuring the mechanical linkages or magnetic sensors align properly with the lever's throw.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness, reinstall the steering column covers, and reattach the steering wheel.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery, clear the CCU fault codes, and verify that the tractor starts in neutral and shifts into forward/reverse without throwing code 2111.
