2116 (4216.03) - DEC

Case IH 2116 (4216.03) - DEC – DEC or EHR: Clutch REV Solenoid Short to High Voltage

Issue description

The Low Side Driver (LSD) circuit controlling the Reverse (REV) Clutch Solenoid is detecting a short to a high voltage source (battery voltage). Note that there is an OEM documentation discrepancy: while this code typically indicates a drivetrain solenoid short, in some Case IH systems (EHR module) code 4216 indicates 'Rear Remote No.1 - Valve Spool Not Calibrated'.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • Case IH Magnum (235-340 series)
  • Case IH Steiger (350-600 series)

Check the cause

  1. Initial logic and parameters are validated

  2. Standard processing applied

  3. Standard processing applied

  4. Standard processing applied

  5. Using a multimeter, test the Low Side Driver (LSD) wire between the DEC and the solenoid for a short to battery voltage (12V+)

Repair steps

  1. Recalibrate remote valve

If diagnosing the alternative Case IH 4216 EHR code cause (Rear Remote No.1), run the remote valve calibration routine via the tractor's display or diagnostic tool to recalibrate the spool valve.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Directional Clutch REV Solenoid

Required if the solenoid coil is internally shorted.

  • Rear Remote No. 1 Valve Spool

Alternative part if the code is logged against the EHR system for the remote valve.
