Case IH 2124 – Transmission Control Module (TCM): Flywheel torque sensor not calibrated / fitted in error

On 16x16 transmissions, the flywheel torque sensor has not been successfully calibrated. On 24x24 transmissions, the sensor is detected but should not be present or enabled (configuration mismatch).

   Verify Transmission Type: Determine if the tractor has a 16x16 or 24x24 transmission. If it is a 24x24, the sensor may be installed by mistake or the controller software is misconfigured.

   Check for Sub-Codes (U-Codes): When attempting calibration, monitor the dash for specific "U" error codes: U80 (calibration unsuccessful), U81 (no signal), U82 (no 12V power for C3 and C4 solenoids), or U83 (4-5 synchro did not shift to 4).

   Inspect Wiring and Fuses: Check the physical connection at the flywheel speed/torque sensor (located on the drive shaft/flywheel housing) and verify the module fuses are intact.

   Warm Up the Tractor

   Ensure the transmission oil temperature is at least 60°C (140°F). Calibration will be blocked if the oil is too cold.

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Access the tractor's "HH" or "ch" calibration menus via the lower central display on the dashboard using the "h" and "m" keys.

   Select the Channel

   Navigate to the specific channel for transmission clutches and flywheel torque sensor calibration.

   Run the Calibration

   Follow the on-screen prompts. The system will determine the current required to turn the input/output shaft at the required speed.

   Monitor for Errors

   If a four-digit number beginning with "2" (like 2124) or a "U" code (like U80) appears, the calibration has failed.

   Retry or Replace

   If U80 appears, retry the procedure. If it fails repeatedly or throws a U81 (no signal), the sensor itself is faulty and must be replaced.
