The controller has detected a fault resulting from an improper mechanical adjustment or an improper response/action of a mechanical system, such as a physical synchronizer failing to engage or a shift fork binding.

   Verify that the issue is not electrical, as FMI 7 specifically points to a mechanical failure or out-of-adjustment condition

   Check the physical adjustment of the transmission shift linkages or actuators responsible for the 2/4 synchronizer

   Inspect the transmission fluid for debris, which could indicate physical damage to the synchronizer rings or shift forks

   Split the tractor or access the transmission housing to physically inspect, adjust, or replace the failing 2/4 synchronizer assembly or its actuating mechanisms.
