Case IH 2147 (519166.04) - DEC – DEC: Forward Clutch Pressure Sensor - open circuit or short circuit to GND

The controller is detecting either an "open circuit" (a broken wire, disconnected plug, or failed internal sensor element resulting in no signal) or a "short circuit to GND" (a bare wire touching the machine's chassis/ground, pulling the signal voltage to zero). This prevents the system from accurately reading the hydraulic pressure applied to the forward clutch pack.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission's forward clutch pressure sensor for chafing, melting, or pinch points against the chassis.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the electrical connector for water intrusion, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Use a digital multimeter (DVOM) to check for continuity on the ground circuit and verify the reference voltage from the DEC to the sensor.

   Test the signal wire for continuity back to the DEC harness to rule out a broken wire (open circuit) or continuity to ground (short to ground).

   Relieve hydraulic pressure

   Relieving hydraulic pressure from the transmission system.

   Locate sensor

   Locating the Forward Clutch Pressure Sensor on the transmission valve block.

   Replace sensor

   Removing the defective sensor and installing a new one (applying appropriate thread sealant if required by the service manual).

   Reconnect and clear codes

   Reconnecting the wiring harness and clearing the inactive fault codes using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or dealer laptop, as some DEC codes cannot be cleared manually via the cab display.

   Calibrate transmission

   Performing a transmission clutch calibration procedure to ensure smooth engagement.
