Case IH 2148 (519167.03) - DEC – DEC: Reverse Clutch Pressure Sensor - short to high voltage

The signal from the Reverse Clutch Pressure Sensor is registering above the maximum allowable threshold (out of range high), indicating the sensor or its harness is shorted to a high voltage source (such as an 8V or 12V supply). As a safety measure, the reverse clutch will be disabled and the machine will be restricted to using only forward clutches.

   Visually inspect the reverse clutch pressure sensor connector, the cable harness line connectors (e.g., X020), and the DEC controller connector.

   Make sure that the connectors are plugged in, not damaged, the pins are in the correct position, and the connection is tightly seated.

   Test the sensor supply voltage to verify if there is a short circuit to a +8V or +12V source in the wiring harness.

   Inspect harness for short

   Disconnect the reverse clutch pressure sensor and inspect the harness side for a short to a high voltage source using a multimeter.

   Repair wiring harness

   If the connectors or wiring harness are damaged, shorted, or have pins out of position, repair or replace the affected harness section as needed.

   Replace pressure sensor

   If the wiring and connectors test OK, the internal circuitry of the reverse clutch pressure sensor has failed (shorted internally). Replace the reverse clutch pressure sensor.

   Clear error code

   After eliminating the cause of the malfunction (repairing the harness or replacing the sensor), use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the machine's display to clear the error code.

   Verify system function

   Shift the tractor to neutral, then to forward, and back to reverse to verify the function of the system and ensure the code does not return.
