Case IH 2151 (519168.04) - DEC – Transmission Controller (TCU / TRANS): Even Clutch Pressure Sensor Circuit Anomaly (Open Circuit or Short to Ground)

The Transmission Control Unit (TCU) has detected an electrical anomaly in the Even Clutch Pressure Sensor circuit, such as an open circuit or short circuit to ground. Because of this, the TCU cannot monitor the hydraulic pressure applied to the even clutch pack, which is necessary for smooth, modulated shifting in even-numbered gears.

   Monitor live data in the tractor's monitor (A-post display or Pro 700) to view transmission pressure readings. If the Even Clutch pressure reads exactly 0 kPa or maxes out immediately upon startup, it confirms an electrical/sensor failure.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the Even Clutch Pressure Sensor (at the transmission control valve block) for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the sensor and check for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-back pins inside the connector.

   Use a multimeter to check for a 5V reference and a good ground at the harness connector.

   Test the signal wire for continuity back to the transmission controller.

   Check the signal wire for continuity to ground to confirm if there is a short circuit to ground.

   Park machine

   Safely park the tractor on level ground, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Clean area

   Clean the area around the transmission control valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the Even Clutch Pressure Sensor.

   Remove sensor

   Unscrew and remove the faulty pressure sensor. Have a rag ready, as a small amount of hydraulic oil will seep out.

   Install new sensor

   Install the new pressure sensor and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Clear fault codes

   Turn the key on and use the tractor's diagnostic menu or the CNH EST tool to clear the stored fault codes.

   Perform calibration

   Start the tractor and warm the hydraulic oil up to operating temperature (above 122°F / 50°C). Enter calibration mode and allow the controller to automatically run through the fill times for the C1, C3, C5, Odd, Even, and Master clutches.
