Case IH 2152 (519169.03) - DEC – DEC: Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor - short to high voltage

The voltage signal from the Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor (or solenoid circuit) is reading above the normal operating range. Specifically, the system detects a 'short to high voltage' (or shorted to +12 Volts / power) while the driver/actuator is commanded off.

   Check the transmission wiring harness and connectors leading to the odd clutch pressure sensor/solenoid on the transmission valve body for chafing, bare wires, or loose pins.

   Use a digital multimeter to measure the voltage at the sensor connector. Check if the signal wire is shorted directly to a +12V power supply circuit.

   Check and clean all Transmission Control Unit (TCU/DEC) grounds related to the circuit.

   Check the transmission fluid level and condition. Ensure there is no heavy metallic debris in the oil, which could indicate mechanical failure of the odd clutch pack (slipping under load).

   Clear the DTCs with a diagnostic tool and operate the tractor to see if the code returns immediately (hard fault in sensor/wiring) or intermittently.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Ensure the area around the machine is clear to prevent unexpected movement.

   Access the Valve Body

   Locate the transmission control valve block (mechatronic unit) where the odd clutch pressure sensor and solenoids are housed.

   Harness Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power in the wiring harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the harness.

   Sensor/Solenoid Replacement

   If the wiring tests good, the sensor/solenoid has failed internally. Disconnect the harness, remove the retaining bolts, and extract the faulty odd clutch pressure sensor/solenoid.

   Installation

   Install the new sensor/solenoid and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the wiring harness.

   Fluid Top-Up

   Add transmission fluid if any was lost during the sensor replacement.

   Calibration

   Connect the diagnostic tool, clear the fault codes, and perform a transmission clutch calibration. Navigate to the "Odd Clutch" screen on the display and press Enter to start the odd clutch calibration. Wait until the screen reports the clutch calibration value in milliamperes.
