Case IH 2160 – Transmission/Hydraulic Control Module (or main vehicle ECU): System pressure transducer circuit is shorted to the 5 volt reference or B+ (Battery Positive)

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the hydraulic/transmission system pressure transducer that is abnormally high (full 5 volts or 12 volts), pointing to a shorted wire in the harness or an internal short inside the sensor itself.

   Visually inspect the system pressure transducer (located on the remote/hitch valve block or powershift manifold) to ensure connectors are secure, undamaged, and pins are tight and free of corrosion or oil-fouling.

   Perform a harness short test: Disconnect the sensor from the harness, turn the key ON, and use a multimeter to measure voltage on the signal wire. If it reads 5V or 12V (Battery +), the wiring harness is shorted to power between the sensor and the ECU.

   Perform a sensor internal short test: If the wiring harness tests normal (no voltage on the signal wire when disconnected), the short is likely internal to the pressure transducer itself.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Relieve Pressure

   Ensure all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system before removing the sensor to prevent fluid injection injuries.

   Repair Wiring

   If a harness short was found, trace the wiring back to the ECU. Look for pinch points, rubbed-through insulation, or melted wires. Splice and repair the damaged section using weather-sealed connectors, or replace the harness section.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the harness is good, unscrew the defective system pressure transducer from the valve block/manifold. Install the new OEM transducer and tighten to the specified torque.

   Reconnect and Clear

   Reconnect the sensor harness. Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON and use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the in-cab display to clear the inactive fault code.

   Test Operation

   Start the tractor and operate the hydraulics/transmission to verify the fault code does not return and that system pressures read normally.
