Case IH 2175 – ZDC: ZDC - EEPROM - Checksum 0 Inconsistent (Manufacturer and ISO Data)

Issue description

Critical internal memory error within the control module. The EEPROM has failed its internal checksum validation for the manufacturer and ISO data block, indicating the non-volatile memory is corrupted or the physical memory chip itself has failed.

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger T4B
  • Case IH Steiger AFS Connect CVT
  • Case IH Magnum CVXDrive
  • Case IH Puma CVX

Check the cause

  1. Inspect battery terminals, cab ground straps, and wiring harness connectors at the ZDC module for corrosion or loose pins, as voltage issues can cause EEPROM corruption

  2. Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or in-cab display to clear the fault code

  3. Turn the ignition off, wait for the machine's controllers to power down completely, and turn the key back on to see if the code returns immediately (indicating a hard internal fault)

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Power Issues

Fix any underlying battery or harness voltage issues found during the diagnostic checks to prevent damaging a new module.

  2. Attempt a Software Flash

Connect the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) to the tractor's diagnostic port. Attempt to re-flash (reprogram) the ZDC module with the latest software payload to rewrite corrupted EEPROM data blocks.

  3. Recalibrate

If the flash is successful and the code clears, perform all necessary transmission calibrations (such as the AEB / clutch calibration), as the EEPROM reset likely wiped previous calibration data.

  4. Module Replacement

If the EST cannot communicate with the ZDC, the flash fails, or the 2175 fault code returns immediately after reprogramming, the ZDC module has suffered an unrecoverable internal hardware failure.

  5. Install and Program New Module

Replace the ZDC module. Flash the new module with the correct software for the tractor's specific PIN using the EST, followed by a full transmission calibration.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • ZDC Controller / CVT Transmission Control Module

Exact part number varies heavily depending on specific tractor model, year, and series; requires VIN/PIN lookup in NGPC. Shipped blank or with base software and must be programmed by a Case IH dealer using the EST tool.
