Case IH 2197 – ZDC Controller: ZDC - CAN message TFLUID timeout

The ZDC controller has lost the CAN bus signal broadcasting the transmission or hydraulic fluid temperature. The module expecting the data did not receive the signal within the programmed time limit.

   Verify the transmission/hydraulic fluid temperature sensor for physical damage or a disconnected plug

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the fluid temperature sensor (or the module broadcasting its data) and the ZDC Controller for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins at the connectors

   Verify that the ZDC controller is receiving proper voltage (tied to the KEY SW B+ power distribution circuit)

   Ensure the CAN network has the proper terminating resistance (typically 60 ohms across the CAN High and CAN Low pins with the battery disconnected)

   Disconnect battery power

   Disconnect battery power before servicing the ZDC controller or CAN harness.

   Clean contacts

   Locate the fluid temperature sensor on the CVT/hydraulic block. Unplug the connector and clean the contacts with electronic cleaner.

   Repair wiring

   Trace the wiring harness back to the ZDC module. Repair any broken or shorted wires in the CAN High/CAN Low lines.

   Replace sensor

   If the wiring is intact and the sensor tests out of specification (open or shorted internally), replace the fluid temperature sensor.

   Flash or replace controller

   If the sensor and wiring are good, the ZDC controller itself may require a software flash or replacement.

   Verify repair

   Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes, and run the tractor to operating temperature to verify the TFLUID signal is restored.
