Case IH 22 – TMF Controller, Armrest Controller, or Transmission TCU: Single draft pin sensor failed or Clutch Pack (A) Solenoid Short Circuit

Code 22 indicates either a single draft pin sensor failure (TMF), a Clutch Pack (A) PWM Solenoid Coil Short Circuit, or transmission oil temperature too high.    Verify the Linkage: Remove the side console panel (to the right of the seat) and check the small mechanical linkage between the control handle and the potentiometer for binding or detachment.

   Electrical Testing: Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the sensor/potentiometer. Measure resistance between the pins as the potentiometer rotates to ensure voltage varies smoothly without dropping out.

   Harness Check: Test the wire harness for continuity, check for a short to ground or an open circuit, and ensure the controller is supplying the correct 5V or 8V reference voltage to the sensor.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground.

   This provides access to the controller and potentiometer assembly.
