Case IH 2207 (517959.04) - DEC – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / TRANS module: Clutch EVEN Solenoid - short to GND

This fault code indicates an electrical fault in the transmission's Even Clutch Solenoid circuit. The system has detected that the circuit is either open or shorted to ground (GND), which prevents the solenoid from properly modulating hydraulic flow to the even-numbered gear clutches, resulting in transmission slipping or a failure to engage specific gears.

   Check the wiring harness leading to the Even Clutch Solenoid for damaged, chafed, or melted wires that could cause a short to ground.

   Inspect the solenoid and harness connectors for loose, corroded, or bent pins.

   Test the solenoid coil itself with a multimeter to determine if the coil has failed internally (open circuit) or is shorted to ground.

   Verify that the battery voltage is sufficient, as low voltage can trigger clutch solenoid operation faults.

   If the wiring and solenoid test within specification, verify if the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) has an internal failure.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Locate the Valve Block

   Locate the transmission control valve assembly (typically mounted on the side of the transmission housing) and identify the Even Clutch Solenoid.

   Disconnect Harness

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the Even Clutch Solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Unbolt and remove the faulty Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) solenoid valve from the transmission control valve body. Be prepared to catch a small amount of hydraulic fluid.

   Install New Solenoid

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid cartridge with clean transmission fluid and install it into the valve body. Torque to OEM specifications.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   After replacing transmission solenoids or the controller, the transmission clutches will no longer be calibrated. You MUST perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure using the tractor's display or a diagnostic service tool before operating the machine.
