Case IH 2208 (517959.15) - DEC – Transmission (Trans): Clutch EVEN Solenoid - short to high voltage

The fault indicates an electrical short to a high voltage source (+12 Volts) on the circuit controlling the Even Clutch Solenoid. The controller is detecting that current is flowing through the solenoid circuit even when the driver (the command to engage the solenoid) is turned off.

   Verify the tractor's overall battery and charging system voltage (low voltage can trigger related clutch solenoid codes)

   Inspect the transmission wiring harness leading to the Even Clutch Solenoid for rubbed insulation shorting to a constant +12V power wire

   Disconnect the Even Clutch Solenoid and test the harness-side connector with a multimeter for +12 Volts with the key ON but transmission in neutral/park

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental short circuits during repair.

   Locate the Even Clutch Solenoid on the transmission control valve body.

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bridging that could cause a short.

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a harness issue, trace the wiring back to the Transmission controller and repair or replace the damaged section of the harness where it is shorting to +12V.

   If the harness is intact and the solenoid is internally shorted, remove the retaining hardware and extract the Even Clutch Solenoid from the valve body.

   Install the replacement Even Clutch Solenoid and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reconnect the battery and clear the fault codes.

   Perform a transmission clutch calibration.

   Because a transmission clutch component was replaced or the circuit was disrupted, you must perform a transmission clutch calibration. If the clutches are not calibrated, the transmission controller will log code 2024 ('none of the Transmission clutches are calibrated') and may restrict movement.
