Case IH 2211 (517959.06) - DEC – DEC: Clutch EVEN Solenoid - LSD short to HSD

An electrical circuit failure regarding the transmission's Even Clutch Solenoid (A2 transmission clutch solenoid) where the ground/return circuit (Low Side Driver) is shorted directly to the power/supply circuit (High Side Driver).

   Inspect the transmission wiring harness routing from the DEC to the transmission valve body/bulkhead connector for pinch points, melted insulation, or chafing.

   Disconnect the Even Clutch (A2) solenoid connector and measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid. A reading of near 0 ohms indicates the solenoid is internally shorted and is the source of the LSD to HSD short.

   With both the DEC and the solenoid disconnected, use a multimeter to check for continuity between the power (HSD) and ground (LSD) wires in the harness. If there is continuity, the wiring harness is shorted.

   Turn off machine and disconnect battery

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent damage to the DEC.

   Locate solenoid

   Locate the Even Clutch solenoid on the transmission control valve block.

   Remove retaining bolt/clip

   Based on the diagnostic checks, if the solenoid is internally shorted, remove the retaining bolt/clip holding the Even Clutch solenoid in the valve body.

   Replace solenoid

   Remove the faulty solenoid and replace it with a new OEM solenoid, ensuring the O-rings are lubricated with clean transmission fluid (Hy-Tran) prior to installation.

   Repair or replace harness

   If the diagnostic checks pointed to the harness, locate the shorted section of the wiring (often near transmission housing rub points) and repair the wires using weather-sealed splice connectors, or replace the transmission harness section.

   Reconnect components

   Reconnect the DEC and the solenoid.

   Restore power and clear codes

   Reconnect the battery, power on the machine, and clear the inactive fault codes from the DEC using the cab monitor or a diagnostic tool.

   Perform test drive

   Perform a test drive, cycling the transmission through all gears to ensure the Even clutch engages properly and the code does not return.
