Case IH 2214 – ZDC: Service Brake Pedal Switch Activated Longer than Expected (Pressure Transducer, Left Signal)

A plausibility error between the brake pedal switch and the left brake pressure transducer. The controller is detecting that the brake pedal switch or the left brake pressure transducer is sending an 'activated' (braking) signal for a duration that exceeds the programmed time limit.

   Verify that the operator is not resting their foot on the brake pedal during field operation or transport.

   Inspect the brake pedal linkage to ensure it returns fully when released. Check for debris blocking the pedal travel.

   Disconnect the brake pressure transducer connector and the brake pedal switch connector. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.

   Using a multimeter, verify the 5V reference and ground at the transducer connector.

   Test the brake pedal switch for proper continuity (it should cleanly open/close when the pedal is actuated).

   If a diagnostic tool is available, monitor the live data for the 'Left Brake Pressure' and 'Brake Pedal Switch' states to see which sensor is hanging in the active position.

   Power Down

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Faulty Component

   The Brake Pedal Switch is located directly at the top of the brake pedal arm assembly inside the cab. The Left Brake Pressure Transducer is typically located on the brake valve block or transmission housing (refer to the specific model's hydraulic schematic).

   Remove and Replace

   For the Switch: Unplug the electrical connector, loosen the retaining locknut, and unscrew the switch from its mounting bracket. Install the new switch and adjust the depth so that the pedal arm fully depresses the plunger when released. For the Transducer: Clean the area around the sensor to prevent hydraulic contamination. Unplug the connector, unscrew the transducer (have a rag ready for minor fluid loss), and install the new transducer. Torque to OEM specifications.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and depress the brake pedal several times to ensure the mechanical action is smooth.

   Clear Codes

   Use the tractor's diagnostic menu or a service tool to clear the ZDC fault code. Test drive the tractor to ensure the code does not return.
