Case IH 2215 – ZDC: Service Brake Pedal Switch Activated Longer than Expected (Top of Brake Pedal Switch, Right Signal)

The controller is receiving a continuous, uninterrupted "activated" signal from the right service brake pedal switch for a duration that exceeds normal operating parameters. This typically means the switch is physically stuck closed, the brake pedal is failing to return fully to its resting position, or there is an electrical short in the wiring harness keeping the signal high.

   Physical Pedal Inspection: Check the right service brake pedal to ensure it is physically returning all the way to the top of its travel. Look for debris, a weak return spring, or pivot binding that might prevent the pedal from fully releasing the switch.

   Switch Actuation Check: Locate the top right brake pedal switch in the cab. Manually depress and release the plunger to see if it is physically sticking or broken.

   Electrical Continuity Test: Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity. The switch state should cleanly toggle (open/close) when the plunger is pressed and released. If it remains closed regardless of plunger position, the switch has failed internally.

   Wiring Harness Check: If the switch tests fine, inspect the wiring harness leading from the switch to the ZDC controller for chafing, pinched wires, or a short-to-power that would cause the controller to see a constant signal.

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.

   Access the pedal assembly under the dashboard inside the cab.

   Locate the right service brake pedal switch (mounted at the top of the pedal arm).
