Case IH 2222 – ZDC: Transmission Lubrication Oil Pressure Sensor Supply Voltage is out of Range High
Issue description
Fault code 2222 indicates that the Transmission Lubrication Oil Pressure Sensor Supply Voltage is out of Range High. This means the ZDC controller is receiving a voltage signal from the sensor that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. In electronic sensor circuits, a voltage out of range high condition typically points to a short to power in the signal wire, an open circuit in the sensor's ground wire, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Verify the transmission fluid level and condition, as erratic pressure readings can sometimes stem from low fluid levels or poor fluid condition.
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the ZDC module to the transmission oil pressure sensor for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper that could cause a short to power.
Disconnect the sensor and inspect the electrical connector for moisture, corrosion, or damaged pins.
Use a multimeter to verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage and that the ground circuit is intact (an open ground will cause the signal voltage to pull high).
Repair steps
Locate the sensor
The transmission oil pressure sensor is located on the transmission case. Depending on the tractor model, reaching it typically requires removing a small access panel.
Clean the area
Thoroughly clean the area around the sensor to prevent dirt or debris from falling into the transmission housing when the sensor is removed.
Remove the sensor
Disconnect the electrical harness plug and unscrew the old sensor from the transmission case.
Install the new sensor
Apply a dab of thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor (if it does not come pre-applied) and thread it right into the transmission case. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
Reconnect and clear codes
Plug the factory wiring harness back into the sensor (it should plug right in with no modifications needed). Clear the fault codes from the ZDC module using the tractor's display or a diagnostic tool.
Test operation
Start the tractor and monitor the transmission oil pressure readings on the display to ensure they are accurate and the fault code does not return.
