Case IH 2254 (519184.05) - DEC – DEC: Synchro M Solenoid - open circuit
Issue description
The control module is sending a voltage signal to the Synchro M Solenoid but is not detecting the expected return current. This indicates a physical break in the electrical path—such as a severed wire, a disconnected or corroded harness plug, or a solenoid coil that has burned out and failed internally (open).

Check the cause
Locate the Synchro M Solenoid on the transmission valve body and visually inspect the wiring harness for obvious signs of chafing, rodent damage, or severed wires.
Disconnect the harness at the solenoid and check for pushed-back pins, water intrusion, or corrosion.
Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the Synchro M Solenoid. An 'OL' (Open Loop) or infinite resistance reading confirms the solenoid coil has failed internally and must be replaced.
If the solenoid tests within normal resistance specs, test the wiring harness for continuity between the DEC connector and the solenoid connector to locate the break in the wire.
Repair steps
Clean area
Cleaning the area around the transmission valve body to prevent contamination.
Disconnect harness
Disconnecting the electrical harness from the Synchro M Solenoid.
Remove solenoid
Unbolting/unscrewing the faulty solenoid from the manifold.
Install new solenoid
Installing the new solenoid with new O-rings (lubricated with clean hydraulic/transmission fluid).
Reconnect and clear codes
Reconnecting the harness and clearing the fault codes via the machine's diagnostic display.
