Case IH 2262 (519185.15) - DEC – DEC (Drivetrain Electronic Controller): Synchro F Solenoid Short to High Voltage
Issue description
The controller is detecting a voltage on the solenoid's control or ground circuit that is higher than expected. This condition is typically caused by a wiring harness chafing and shorting against a 12V power wire, or an internal short-circuit within the solenoid coil itself.

Check the cause
Visual Harness Inspection: Trace the wiring harness from the DEC to the Synchro F solenoid on the transmission valve block. Look for pinched wires, melted insulation, or chafing that could cause the control wire to short against a 12V power source.
Coil Resistance Test: Disconnect the 2-pin plug from the solenoid. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the two pins on the solenoid coil. A healthy OEM coil should read approximately 6.8 Ohms. If it reads significantly lower or zero, the coil is internally shorted and must be replaced.
Connector Inspection: Check the 2-pin connector for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins that could be bridging the circuits.
Voltage Check: With the solenoid disconnected and the key ON, measure the voltage at the harness connector. If 12V is present on the ground/control circuit when it shouldn't be, the short to power is located in the wiring harness, not the solenoid.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental shorting.
Locate solenoid
Locate the Synchro F solenoid on the transmission/drivetrain control valve block.
Unplug connector
Unplug the 2-pin electrical connector from the solenoid.
Remove retaining nut
Remove the retaining nut or bolt holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem.
Remove faulty coil
Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge (you typically do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge itself, preventing fluid loss).
Install new coil
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and tighten the retaining nut.
Reconnect electrical connector
Reconnect the 2-pin electrical connector, ensuring the weather seal clicks into place.
Test and clear codes
Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes from the DEC using a diagnostic tool or the machine's display, and test the transmission/shuttle operation to verify the repair.
