Case IH 2265 (519185.06) - DEC – ENG: Electric Lift Pump for Engine Fuel Supply Voltage too high

The engine control module is detecting a voltage on the electric fuel lift pump control circuit that exceeds the expected normal operating range (shorted to a high voltage source / Short to High / Battery).

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the electric lift pump for any chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires that could cause a short to a high-voltage source (battery voltage).

   Disconnect the lift pump electrical connector and use a multimeter to check the voltage on the supply pin with the key ON. If voltage is present when it shouldn't be, the short is in the harness or the lift pump relay.

   Inspect the fuel pump relay for internal shorts (contacts welded shut).

   Check the internal resistance of the electric lift pump to ensure the motor itself has not shorted out internally.

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical sparks near the fuel system.

   Locate the electric lift pump, which is typically mounted on top of the fuel sedimenter/water separator head.

   Disconnect the pump electrical connector from the tractor wiring harness.

   Rotate the pump locking ring counterclockwise to release the pump from the sedimenter head.

   Lift the pump off the sedimenter.

   Clean the mounting surface and install the new O-ring/seal.

   Seat the new electric lift pump onto the sedimenter head and rotate the locking ring clockwise to secure it.

   Reconnect the electrical harness, prime the fuel system, and clear the fault codes from the ENG module.
