Case IH 2267 (519186.04) - DEC – DEC: Synchro N Solenoid - short to GND
Issue description
The control module has detected that the electrical circuit for one of the transmission synchronizer solenoids (designated as 'Synchro N') is shorted to ground, indicating a direct path to the chassis ground.

Check the cause
Identify the specific solenoid using the tractor's diagnostic display or the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to determine exactly which synchronizer is triggering the fault.
Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the DEC to the transmission valve block for pinch points, rubbed insulation, or areas resting against hot components (checking for harness short).
Disconnect the harness at the affected Synchro solenoid and inspect the pins for water ingress, corrosion, or melting (checking for connector short).
Measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid and check for continuity between the power pin and the metal solenoid housing to test for an internal short.
With the solenoid disconnected and the key ON, check the harness-side power wire for continuity to ground to determine if the short is in the wiring harness, not the valve block itself.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Locate the Valve Block
Locate the transmission control valve block on the side of the transmission housing. Clean the exterior of the valve block thoroughly with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Remove the Solenoid
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty Synchro N solenoid. Remove the retaining bolts or snap ring securing the solenoid to the valve block.
Extraction
Carefully pull the solenoid cartridge out of the valve block. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid will drain out.
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM solenoid with clean transmission hydraulic fluid. Carefully insert the new solenoid into the bore, ensuring the O-rings are not pinched.
Secure and Reconnect
Install the retaining bolts or snap ring. Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks into place.
Reassembly
Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Calibration
Start the tractor and allow the transmission fluid to reach operating temperature. Clear the inactive fault codes. You must perform a transmission synchronizer/clutch calibration procedure using the tractor's display or the CNH EST.

Ensure the replacement solenoid is keyed correctly for the specific synchronizer position. Do not mix up clutch solenoids with synchronizer solenoids. Always replace the O-rings if they are not pre-installed on the new cartridge.
