Case IH 2275 – ZDC: ZDC - CAN message ExtPoti00 signal HandThrottleValue Error or Not Available

The transmission controller is not receiving a valid position signal from the hand throttle potentiometer (ExtPoti00) over the CAN network, causing the system to default the hand throttle value to 0%.

   Monitor live data using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or in-cab display to see if the Hand Throttle percentage is stuck at 0% or fluctuates erratically

   Visually inspect the hand throttle lever on the MultiControl Armrest for physical damage, excessive play, or debris blocking movement

   Check the connector at the hand throttle potentiometer beneath the armrest console for loose pins, corrosion, or moisture

   Verify if other CAN-related fault codes are present, which would indicate a damaged CAN bus wire between the armrest controller and the ZDC module rather than a faulty throttle. Test the harness for continuity and shorts to ground.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Potentiometer

   Remove the covers on the MultiControl Armrest to expose the internal linkages and wiring for the hand throttle assembly.

   Test the Potentiometer

   Disconnect the hand throttle potentiometer. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the sensor's sweep. The resistance should change smoothly without any dropouts or dead spots.

   Replace if Faulty

   If the multimeter shows an open circuit or erratic resistance, remove the retaining screws holding the potentiometer to the throttle lever assembly and install a new one.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the potentiometer tests fine, trace the CAN wiring harness from the armrest to the ZDC controller (usually located under the cab floor or behind the seat, depending on the model). Repair any chafed or broken wires.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the tractor's display monitor or CNH EST to perform a Hand Throttle Calibration. The controller must learn the new minimum and maximum voltage limits of the replacement sensor.

   Clear Codes

   Clear fault code 2275 from the ZDC module and test drive the tractor to ensure the CVXDrive responds correctly to hand throttle inputs.
