Case IH 2283-03 - UCM – UCM: Front pilot head #1 supply voltage signal above normal operating limit

The controller is detecting a higher voltage than expected on the circuit for the #1 front hydraulic remote valve, which typically points to a short to power in the wiring harness or an internal electrical failure within the pilot head itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #1 front EHR valve pilot head for damage, rubbing, or moisture intrusion.

   Disconnect the pilot head and check the connector pins for corrosion or pin push-out.

   With the key ON (engine off), use a digital multimeter to verify the 5V reference and ground at the connector. Check the signal wire for continuity and ensure it is not shorted to battery voltage.

   Perform a wiggle test on the harness while monitoring live data on the EST (Electronic Service Tool) or the Pro monitor to see if the voltage fluctuates, which would indicate an intermittent wiring short rather than a failed pilot head.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect battery power to the machine.

   Remove retaining hardware

   Locate the #1 front hydraulic remote valve block. Remove the retaining hardware holding the faulty pilot head to the valve body.

   Install new pilot head

   Remove the faulty pilot head assembly and install the new OEM pilot head.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Navigate to calibration menu

   Navigate to the tractor's calibration menu (e.g., 'H Menu' / Channel 1 - Valve Calibration).

   Complete EHR valve calibration

   Connect the required special tools to the valve to complete the EHR valve calibration.

   Clear fault codes

   Clear the inactive fault codes from the UCM via the Pro monitor or EST.
