Case IH 2283-12 - UCM – UCM: Low supply voltage reported by front pilot head #1
Issue description
The fault code indicates an issue with the Front pilot head #1 (Multicontroller joystick), meaning the joystick's internal circuitry is detecting a voltage drop or an internal hardware failure.
Applies to these machines
1 machine- MAGNUM AFS Connect
Check the cause
Check for related CAN bus communication codes, such as 2283-04, which would indicate a complete loss of power or CAN connection
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the UCM and the Front Pilot Head #1 (joystick) for damage, corrosion, or loose pins
Test the supply voltage and ground circuits feeding the front pilot head to ensure the joystick is receiving the correct operating voltage
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect battery power.
Access harness
Access the Multicontroller armrest wiring harness.
Repair wiring
If the diagnostic checks reveal a wiring issue (e.g., a broken wire causing the low supply voltage), repair the affected section of the harness.
Replace joystick
If the wiring and supply voltage to the joystick are verified as good, the internal controller of the joystick has failed. Remove the mounting screws for the Front Pilot Head #1, disconnect the harness, and replace the joystick assembly.
Clear codes
Reconnect battery power and clear the inactive fault codes from the AFS Pro 1200 monitor.
