2284-02 - UCM

Case IH 2284-02 - UCM – UCM: Vehicle controller loss of communication with front pilot head #1

Issue description

The UCM is no longer receiving or transmitting data to the specific pilot head over the CAN network, indicating a CAN bus failure.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Puma 180-260 CVX
  • T7.220
  • T7.235
  • T7.250
  • T7.260
  • T7.270

Check the cause

  1. Inspect CAN bus 2 wiring harness between the UCM controller and the front pilot head actuator for open circuits or shorts

  2. Check connectors on CAN bus 2 for damaged pins, corrosion, or loose connections

  3. Verify voltage levels on CAN bus 2 to rule out wiring issues before condemning the module

Repair steps

  1. Replace the faulty pilot head component

Replace the faulty pilot head component if the repair ultimately requires it.

  2. Perform a valve calibration

You must perform a valve calibration whenever a new valve pilot head is installed.

  3. Connect a pressure transducer

Connect a pressure transducer (Special Tool #380001903) using a jumper harness (Special Tool #84148258) to perform the on-board calibration.

  4. Navigate through the H Menu

Navigate through the 'H Menu' on the display to access the calibration channels and complete the setup.
